The Children's Council to the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) discussed the campaign "Life is worth more than likes".
Representatives of ERM West and Electrohold together with the children examined the possibilities for engaging new individuals and institutions, as well as the development of additional tools so that the campaign reaches a larger audience of young people.
The initiative with the hashtag #StayAliveChallenge is aimed at a dangerous trend among teenagers - in search of popularity, they climb on electric poles and facilities to take videos or photos for social networks.
During the meeting, representatives of ERM West and Electrohold introduced the participants to the specific physical dangers of electric shock, the mechanism of action of electric current on the human body and alternative ways of self-expression, far from risky behavior. The consequences of the dangerous “playing with electricity“ are often severe burns, falls from tens of meters and danger to life. The participants were presented with the basic rules for responding to a perceived danger. The young people were invited to become ambassadors of the campaign in their communities.
The #StayAliveChallenge campaign speaks the language of young people, but with an important message: “Your life is more valuable than any story. Likes disappear. The consequences remain.” In addition to the risks, the conversation was also about the alternatives – how young people can be brave, different and noticed without putting their lives in danger.
Behind the “Life is worth more than likes“ campaign are the Ministry of Education and Science, SACP, ESO, Energo-Pro, BDZ, NRIC, UMBALSM „Pirogov" and Sofia Municipality. The initiative also includes influencers, as well as creative projects such as Sofia Graffiti Tour and „Voice of Sofia", which encourage young people to seek adrenaline and recognition in a safe way.
In the style of social networks, #StayAliveChallenge also challenges young people - to tell three friends what the risks are, to share the message with the hashtag #StayAliveChallenge on social media and to stop someone if they have told them that they intend to do something dangerous. Because real heroes do not risk their lives for popularity. They protect themselves and others.
