Mirela Veselinova: The Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the services assure us of absolute absurdities - 1

There is no civil reaction to the issue of corruption, there are individual civil organizations trying to pressure the government to fight corruption. But without real civil pressure, this struggle cannot be successful. This is what he said in the show "Face to Face" on BTV the journalist Mirela Veselinova on the occasion of the revelations about parallel justice and the tremors in the Ministry of the Interior.

Prior to the journalistic revelations about the Notary, there was only silence from the institutions regarding the networks of blackmail and trade in influence with the aim of issuing judicial acts under certain influence, racketeering business, fulfilling political orders. These schemes still exist, they did not die with the Notary and Pepi Euro. There is a fusion of power structures with justice, institutions are turning into clubs that serve behind the scenes, Veselinova stated.

In her words, the action against the head of the "Customs" Agency Petya Bankova and the scandal with the former chief prosecutor Zhivko Kotsev are part of the beginning pre-election struggle.

This is a very strong sign of a very dishonest and muddy election campaign, which will be conducted "in blood". This is an extremely dangerous sign for democracy and institutions in Bulgaria, because it seems that the services and the prosecutor's office are being used by certain political forces to attack political opponents, Mirela Veselinova pointed out.

The journalist believes that Zhivko Kotsev was pressured not to resign, but to sign statements incriminating the former interior minister Boyko Rashkov in connection with the suspected smugglers Marin and Stefan Dimitrovi.

All this is absolute absurdity. We live in a parallel world in which the prosecutor's office, the services and the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs assure us of absurd situations, of something that has no logic, Veselinova stressed.

I am not defending anyone in this scheme. I'm not saying that Petya Bankova is innocent, I'm not saying that Zhivko Kotsev is innocent, but we have absolutely no indication of what they are accused of, so that we can form an opinion, but at the same time, we have a lot of data that this is organized a campaign by state institutions that are called to protect the legal order, but violate their powers by interfering in the election campaign, the journalist also said.
