Bulgaria remained the only country without a law on offshore wind. This is what Ruslan Stefanov, program director and chief economist at the Center for the Study of Democracy, warned bTV about.

"To be an energy hub, you either have to be a big energy producer, or a big consumer, or have great infrastructure. We're not just talking about pipes. What Europe has come to realize is that it is neither. That is why it invests in renewable sources. Bulgaria remained the only country without a law on offshore wind. Why is there no political leadership to do this thing? Romania introduced it and it will have "fins“ in the sea. In 10 years we will ask why they have 10 billion euros more investments, why they have thousands more companies tied to these investments, why universities train in these new technologies and why they are richer? Yes, that includes offshore wind. Things are piling up. For what time do we "rescue” of Heating Sofia? This is BGN 3 billion. Previously "Belene" and now "Kozloduy" NPP. – a few billion more. The turbines of PAVETS "Chaira“ – millions. Investments in green energy come from the EU”, stressed Ruslan Stefanov.

"We could have avoided spending money on an unnecessary nuclear power plant project – "Kozloduy" NPP. You can see all the models we have agreed with the European Commission, which show that Bulgaria will not need new nuclear power until 2050, until the two existing reactors are decommissioned. This fact has not changed during Belene. Yes, by 2050 we must have built capacities. What technological part of the chain do we control? Do we have a research institute to study the new possibilities of nuclear energy? Do we have small and medium-sized companies to work worldwide in nuclear power? We don't have any. We are a consumer. This is the delusion about the greatness of Bulgarian energy”, summed up Ruslan Stefanov.
