Burning waste caused a fire in the courtyard of the University Hospital "St. George" in the late afternoon, BNT reported. There were no injuries and no damage to the hospital building. There was no need to evacuate patients, assured the Regional Fire Safety Directorate in Plovdiv.
By chance, the NARD volunteer Krasimir Karakashev was in the area, who initially tried to put out the flames with fire extinguishers, but a fire engine had to be sent to the place, which quickly extinguished the fire, Karakashev explained to BNT.
The fire was small, but because of the burning waste - nylons and old leather furniture, there was heavy smoke. This is not the first fire on the territory of the hospital caused by the burning of old waste.
