Ticks attacked Varna: In two weeks, more than 60 cases of bites have been registered - 1

With the arrival of spring, walks in the park seem to be an increasingly good idea. However, with the awakening of nature, the ticks also wake up, Nova TV reports.

A boom in insect bites has been reported in a number of cities in recent weeks. One of them is Varna. Statistics show that for the last 2 weeks there have been more than 60 cases of bites, and as we know, ticks are often carriers of Lyme disease. Even if the lawns are treated, experts advise people to be extremely careful during this period.

Last summer, however, the great grandson of Daniela Marinova was bitten.

“We managed to get it out without the intervention of a doctor. Then we went to give him an injection against tetanus”, says the woman.

If no measures are taken, the consequences can be serious indeed.

„They carry two main diseases to Bulgaria. These are Lyme disease and Marseilles fever, which are serious diseases. Sometimes you don't even know. Only after he turns blue does he understand what it is about,” explains Dr. Anka Baeva, head of anti-epidemic control at the RZI – Varna.

To protect ourselves, experts advise:

„Wear lighter clothes, especially socks and shoes, when they are in nature”, comments Baeva.
