Petyo Tsekov: The big three - GERB, PP-DB and DPS, can hardly find new partners - 1

A process of searching for a new relationship begins, everyone begins a process of searching for a new relationship. The key event was the dissolution of this marriage, this non-coalition. This is how the deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine “Sega“ commented on the political picture in our country. Petyo Tsekov in an interview with BNR.

„Obviously, all entities along the line are starting to look around, because they are aware that the elections will not change the electoral picture, who knows. I think this is a must – to look for new partners”, the journalist believes.

According to him “the situation is such that the three big – GERB, PP-DB and DPS can hardly find new partners.

„First of all, the imprint on GERD remains. And we all talked about how GERB is arguing and being purged by the old government and this government. The political parties are sufficiently negative against GERB. DPS with Peevski can hardly find a new partner besides GERB. At one time he was a balancer and then he had no problem becoming a partner, now it is impossible. PP-DB have a big weakness in looking for partners – she has a hard time keeping her own potential, let alone looking for new partners. And they are guided by their ideological purity, the rightness of their positions. And it's ok, but it's not ok in the “we are looking for broad support” aspect. They fall into the situation “we have to pray to Peevski” to change the constitution”. And this is difficult to explain”, explained Petyo Tsekov.

According to him, ITN can turn left, right, although now they take a firm position and are at war with GERB.

„Revival" also – they rode a wave and are waiting for it to become a tsunami and lift them to a high place," added the journalist.

And he commented that “Hristo Ivanov tried to explain a month ago that the Constitution is not a recipe or a manual to act on - 1, 2, 3, 4".

„ Mr. Ivanov has slightly confused things. The Constitution is 90% like that, but it must be clothed with laws. The Constitution does not tolerate ambiguity. When it comes to parliamentary carousel. The amended art. 99, para. 5 - the new functions of the president and the official cabinet are not clear. They are deeply confused and this is what happens. A law can be written for the official cabinet, but to leave things in such a way that they can be interpreted by Hristo Ivanov, by the president, is intolerable for me, commented Tsekov.

And he explained that Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev's requests to change ministers are “made-up arguments”.

„This is further proof that this caretaker prime minister can hardly put together a team. He cannot form a cabinet without GERB and without the possible help of Radev. The debates about “Botash” on Friday in the parliament they show, I think there is cooperation from the president for the cabinet. Because “Botash” is a deal of the president's caretaker government. GERB and the president defend a cause and have people in the official office, commented the deputy editor-in-chief of Sega.

According to him, in the scandals of recent days “there is a dose of truth and manipulation”.

„The indisputable role of the services - 2 years they miss the investigated trucks with cigarettes and any contraband and finalize just before the elections? It's a matter of politics," commented Tsekov.

On the rise of right-wing parties, he said:

"The liberal community has a tendency to shout a little louder than it should. Yes, there is a nationalist wave, extreme right and moderate right, because there is a right. In Europe and Bulgaria, the right has broken up into small pieces, And this extreme right in Europe is unlikely to make such a boom that the liberal community is trying to warn."

Petjo Tsekov commented on decision-making in the EU and that this “strengthens Euroscepticism”.

„We must fight to keep our voice in Europe. It is clear to me that the EU is sluggish and has a hard time making decisions, seeking agreement,”, Tsekov said.

And expressed his opinion about the entry of journalists into politics:

"Journalists, I would compare them to acrobats and rhythmic gymnastics, are so good at this work and political speaking that it is natural for them to move from one place to another. I have not seen how successful a politician has become. Perhaps it is because political life follows other rules, which journalism finds difficult to appreciate. Party discipline has nothing to do with the freedom that journalists have in the media. By getting involved in political life, many journalists become just another sidekick in the party and have a hard time surviving. Not because they lack competence, but I think they cannot survive".
