Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and the newly elected Minister of Agriculture Georgi Takhov will meet with representatives of the agricultural branch, BNR reported.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lyudmila Petkova is expected to attend the meeting, and the preliminary agenda states that matters of “urgent order” will be discussed.
Without specifying a specific topic in advance, it is probably the subsidies under the EU's temporary framework to overcome the negative economic impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine, also known as "Ukrainian aid". Farmers could apply for it until April 9, and payment was expected by April 22.
The aid is among the problems that forced the reshuffle in the Ministry of Agriculture. Kiril Vatev, who was part of the last regular cabinet, resigned. The decree to replace him with Georgi Takhov was published yesterday in the “State Gazette”.
