Energists and miners from the coal regions of the country are protesting under the windows of the authorities, NOVA reported.
The union organizations KNSB and KT “Podkrepa” also participate in the organization. The demands of the protesters are that the operation of the coal plants should continue even after the liberalization of the electricity market.
According to the energy experts, due to the carbon emission quotas that the European Union imposes, the electricity produced by the thermal power plants is too expensive to be sold on the exchange, which will lead to the closure of the plants for economic reasons. And this will lead to the loss of thousands of jobs in the sector.
