How much will Easter cost us? - 1

One week remains until the biggest Christian holiday in our country – Easter.

What will we put on the festive table and how much will the purchases cost us?

bTV conducted a comparative experiment by checking product prices seven days before the holiday in Sofia, Burgas and Vratsa.

Sofia

In Sofia, in front of the butchers on the key boulevards, the queues wind a few meters in front of the windows. In most places, the price of a leg of lamb is around BGN 28. The shoulder bag is about 20% cheaper. For a green salad, we need two lettuces, a bunch of radishes and a bunch of onions, which, purchased at the market, cost about two leva. In the supermarket, the same products cost twice as much.

Where would you go without eggs and kosunacs? Kozunak is about BGN 4.80, and six eggs are from BGN 4.20 to BGN 4.90.

Thus, the Easter meal for two in the capital costs about BGN 35.

Burgas

In Burgas, our team chose a supermarket from a local chain of stores, which operates with one of the lowest markups in the region. However, they only offer frozen lamb, which costs BGN 12-13 per kilogram. If we choose lamb shoulder - the price per kilogram is BGN 22. An Easter salad is also put on the table. We buy radishes, a bunch of onions and two lettuces.

Different types of kosunac have different prices. We charge from BGN 4.98. Together with the eggs, which are only one type, the Easter meal in Burgas costs us about BGN 35.

Vratsa

In Vratsa they prefer lamb mainly from local producers. People are even signing up in advance to make sure it doesn't run out. Unlike the big chains, where lamb, mostly imported, is offered for about BGN 20 per kilogram, in some Vratsa shops the price reaches BGN 28.50. According to the owners, the locals prefer Bulgarian.

On the market, the lettuces for the festive green salad cost around BGN per unit. Radishes and fresh onions cost us a total of two leva. The biggest customer delight is the eggs, the price of which is almost doubled down, but it also depends on the size, whether they are homemade, and whether you buy several pieces or shells. Our team chooses homemade eggs - 40 cents per piece.

Kozunak cannot be missed - classic or with raisins, the price is the same – Three leva. Together with the onions, the radishes, the two lettuces and with the most serious spending – the lamb, the symbolic Vratsa table for Easter, costs 37.90. And at least five times as much if it is with children and guests.
