"Look people, look! I didn't even expect such stupidity! Mow parking spaces in reverse! Not only have they turned the entire boulevard into a parking lot, but on top of that, they will make parking difficult and even longer queues will form!".

This is what the protester Marian Bashur wrote on her Facebook profile regarding the repair of Vitosha Blvd. in the capital, playing a video from the corner with "Patriarch Euthymius" Blvd.

He also posted a picture of the original draft:

"This is what the project was and it is in the direction of traffic, but that's how they deliberately decided to make reverse parking spaces! Everyone is free to associate the word as they see fit! But these harmful people harass Sofians with stupid decisions and views! If turning a beautiful boulevard into a parking lot is a European development, then they should go somewhere else and implement them!", Bashur added.

There will be 50 fewer parking spaces after the complete renovation of "Patriarch Evtimii" Blvd. in the capital. This is what the municipal councilor from PP-DB-SS Stefan Spasov told BNT, quoted by sofia24.bg. According to him, this is an insignificant percentage of a total of 3,300 places in the area, and this way the people living in the area will also be compensated.

Traffic changes in the area of "Patriarch Euthymius" Blvd. in Sofia continue with full force. The municipality is taking advantage of the holidays and the lower presence of people in the capital to reorganize the traffic on 2 neighboring streets in the city - "Vitosha" Blvd. and St. "Prof. Fritjof Nansen". However, the changes lead to dissatisfaction among some of the residents and disputes between politicians.

The reorganization of "Patriarch Euthymius" Blvd. started two weeks ago, with only repaving initially announced. To date, the repair includes the construction of a bus lane and two bike lanes, leaving two active car lanes and one stopping lane on the road.

Street "Fritjof Nansen" will also become two-way, with one of its three lanes leading from Cherni Vrah Blvd. to "Patriarch Euthymius". The street is currently being repaved.

Dissatisfaction was also caused by the new organization on "Vitosha" Blvd., where the active traffic lanes also became two, and the others are now intended for oblique parking.

"It is happening because this project is enshrined in every single strategic document, starting with the general development plan of Sofia in 2007. The construction of bike lanes and bus lanes is also part of our pre-election program," said Stefan Spasov.

Slanted parking is the only legally possible organization of traffic, Spasov pointed out. He explained that perpendicular parking will not increase the number of places, and in this case it is impossible, because the dimensions of "Vitosha" boulevard they do not allow it to be carried out calmly.
