"This machine software is based on this , which is used in local elections, so it is familiar and the procedure is easier. We have suggested some things to improve the process. They entered the methodology and we hope to see how it will happen in practice. Next week, the methodology will be publicly announced, which is much better than last year and there will be no unauthorized data leakage.
This was explained by cyber security expert and CEC consultant Assoc. Zlatogor Minchev in "Denyat ON AIR".
According to the guest, the machines are much more secure than paper ballots.
"In one part, the ballots cannot be forged, they cannot become invalid, and thus the vote can be easily sold. Therefore, the machine vote of some of the political players is not very convenient. It doesn't matter what's on the flash drive and if there's an error in the results, it's just for reference. Your vote is counted from the ballot," Prof. Minchev explained for Bulgaria ON AIR.
From his words it became clear that the hash code is the unique compilation for all machines. There are two hash codes - one is on the kernel, the other is on the software build. The hash code has unique passwords inside. This is a level of protection that allows the voter to trust these machines and the software is not falsified, Assoc. Minchev stressed.
The guest drew attention to the fact that all modern countries vote with electronic ballots through their mobile phones, and data processing is much faster.
"We have to decide once and for all whether we will use paper or electronic voting. Machines use flash drives very seriously. Most likely, we will switch to electronic voting", pointed out Prof. Minchev.
He is of the opinion that hardly anyone will invest BGN 100-200 million to buy a mandate for the European Parliament, but it is important how we count the votes by seat. And the good news for the citizens is that now the latest census will be taken into account.
Assoc. Minchev noted that there is a risk of 2 in 1 elections, because citizens are worried and the ballot is long.
"The machine is faster, but there is a preference for both choices. The ballots of the voting machines can be flipped over, and after the vote is confirmed, we will be able to go back and change our choice," the expert explained.
