Asen Vasilev said that he expects an election campaign that "does not allow someone to eat the pensioners' money and give it to the companies that are close to him". "We will not allow it. This is the real choice facing Bulgaria - whether to become a Latin American country, where ten people eat the state's money, and all the others are either below the poverty line or in emigration, or to be a normal European country, where people's funds reach the people and incomes and pensions are raised," he declared.
