With its decision from April, the government proposed that Colonel Miroslav Kostadinov be appointed to the position of “Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade” and to be awarded the high military rank of "Brigadier General". He takes the place of Brigadier General Stanimir Hristov, who was recently appointed to the position of “Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces”. Head of State Rumen Radev issued a decree on the appointment of Colonel Miroslav Kostadinov as the commander of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade, as of May 6, 2024, and on his awarding him with the senior officer title “Brigadier General”. The decree was promulgated in the "State Gazette" on May 10 of this year
Colonel Rumen Petkov is the administrative head – President of the Military Court of Appeal. This is the highest position in the system of military courts of the Republic of Bulgaria. The government approved awarding him the rank of “Brigadier General” on the grounds that, given the special importance of the position, it is expedient that it be designated for occupation by an officer with a high military rank, who, in the sense of art. 136, para. 1 of the Law on Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria is a high command staff.
