President Rumen Radev is on an official visit to Hungary at the invitation of President Tamás Šuyók today and tomorrow , reported the press office of the head of state, BTA reported.

During the visit, the two heads of state will open the Bulgarian cultural and educational center in Budapest, built with the support of the Bulgarian and Hungarian states. The new building will house the educational and cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations of the Bulgarian community, thus realizing a long-standing dream of our compatriots in Hungary.

On May 25 in Budapest, the Bulgarian president will be welcomed with an official ceremony by his Hungarian counterpart. In the presidential palace, Rumen Radev and Tamas Shuyok will hold a "private" meeting. and will lead the plenary talks between the Bulgarian and Hungarian delegations, after which they will make joint statements.

During the visit, President Radev will meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The deepening of bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest, including energy, economy, investment, culture and education, will be the focus of the talks of the head of state. Topics from the regional and European agenda, as well as issues in the context of the upcoming Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the period July-December 2024, will also be highlighted.

On Monday, the head of state Rumen Radev will be on a working visit to the Swiss Confederation. In Bern, the President of Bulgaria will hold a meeting with his Swiss colleague Viola Amherd, after which plenary talks will be held between the delegations. Bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, innovation, education and security are expected to be the highlights of the meeting.

During his visit, Rumen Radev will visit the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne at the invitation of the president of the sports organization, Thomas Bach. Rumen Radev and Thomas Bach will hold a "one-on-one" meeting, after which plenary talks will take place. The prospects for Bulgaria to host the Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2028 will be discussed during the visit to the IOC.

President Rumen Radev was on a two-day official visit to Budapest on October 13 and 14, 2019 at the invitation of the then President of Hungary Janos Ader, according to information from the “Reference“ department. of BTA. Among the highlights of the talks between them were issues from the regional, European and international agenda, cooperation between Bulgaria and Hungary in the field of defense and security and migration, as well as bilateral trade and economic relations, investments, tourism, culture and education. In Budapest, President Rumen Radev also met with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, with the Speaker of the Parliament, László Köver, and with the representatives of the Bulgarian community in Hungary.

In February 2023, the President of Hungary Katalin Novak arrived on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of the Head of State Rumen Radev. The main topics of conversation between the two presidents are migration and the Schengen area. Rumen Radev and Katalin Novak discussed cooperation between Bulgaria and Hungary in the field of energy policy, as well as the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. Cooperation in banking, tourism, trade and investments was also touched upon during the meeting.

On November 2, 2017, the President of Switzerland, Doris Leuthard, made an official visit to Sofia at the invitation of the Head of State Rumen Radev.

On February 21 and 22, 2019, President Rumen Radev paid an official visit to Switzerland at the invitation of the President of Switzerland Uli Maurer. On the first day of his visit, the head of state met with representatives of the Bulgarian community in Bern. On February 22, 2019, he was welcomed with an official ceremony by the Swiss President at the Alpine Air Force Base "Meiringen". The two presidents observed the Alpha Scramble exercise.
