The government has assigned the Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov to study the possibility as soon as possible and started the procedure for the purchase of Dimitar Talev's native house in Prilep. The problem is that at the moment only the owner of 2/3 of the property has announced her willingness to sell her part, and in 2023 the price she asked for is 100,000 euros.
However, the other 1/3 belongs to another owner, who categorically refuses to sell his share to the Bulgarian state.
The ministers from Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev's office united around this during their operational meeting yesterday.
A decision was made to acquire the property by the Bulgarian state as early as June 2023, but no concrete actions have been taken so far. This is also the reason why the topic formally entered the agenda of the executive power again. The concrete reason for the decision of the Council of Ministers is the information about the collapse of a part of the house, which has been collapsing for years and its condition is in extremely bad condition.
The problem is that at the moment only the owner of 2/3 of the property has announced her willingness to sell her part, and in 2023 the price she asked for is 100,000 euros. However, the other 1/3 belongs to another owner, who categorically refuses to sell his share to the Bulgarian state.
„This is a question that should not be postponed any longer. An urgent solution must be found, all actions must be taken to save the house of the great Bulgarian writer, including diplomatically. We owe it to our children, the house must be preserved, restored and turned into a museum," Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was categorical.
We remind you that in 2023 MP from PP-DB Manol Peykov launched a campaign to buy the house of the famous Bulgarian writer Dimitar Talev in Prilep. In an extremely short period of time, funds from donations in the amount of over BGN 200,000 came into Manol Peykov's account, which is his personal account.
In the social network "Facebook" he published a post that mentioned the fundraising bank account. The post briefly gathered support from 5,000 souls and has over 4,000 shares. Many of the people share their family history related to Macedonia or offer to help not only financially but also with their professional qualifications. In an extremely short period of time, funds from donations in the amount of over BGN 200,000 arrived on Manol Peykov's account, which is his personal account.
For more than a year, Manol Peykov has not taken any action on the purchase of the property, nor has he given an explanation as to how and whether the donated funds were spent. On May 24, 2024, part of the house of the writer Dimitar Talev in Prilep was demolished and completely destroyed according to Victor Stoyanov from the "Macedonia" foundation. with a comment: "While we are waiting for Talev's house to be bought in Prilep, the NSA (National Security Agency) has already demolished it. Don't wait for justice.".
Peykov himself is accused by the defrauded relatives of Dimitar Talev that he misused the money for the house of the late writer and that he has no intention of buying it or is deliberately delaying the deal. Already in the autumn of 2023, the heirs of Dimitar Talev organized a protest in front of the Ministry of Culture because of the inaction of the state in the case of the writer's native house in Prilep.
Then they asked Manol Peykov for the first time what was happening with the money collected back in April this year. through his foundation from donations from Bulgarians, amounting to over BGN 200,000.
For years, Talev's heirs have been calling on the Bulgarian state to buy the house in Prilep and take care of its preservation.
