A fire broke out in the University Hospital for Active Treatment (UMBAL) "St. George" in Plovdiv, the medical facility announced, BNT reported.
The fire broke out in one of the orderlies' rest rooms on the 11th floor in Second Surgery. The fire department specified that 10 teams and a mechanical ladder were directed to the place, as according to initial information, smoke was reported on the 6th to 11th floors. Hospital staff responded promptly and managed to evacuate 23 patients. The medical facility assured that there were no injuries.
Fire and police teams were on the scene. At this point, the fire has been extinguished, the cause of the accident is yet to be clarified.
