The former appellate prosecutor of Sofia, Radoslav Dimov, died. This was announced by former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev on his Facebook profile, dariknews.bg reported.

"Rado Dimov - appellate prosecutor of the city of Sofia, passed away. An excellent lawyer, an outstanding friend and most importantly a good person. He didn't deserve what they did to him, but God is watching," he wrote.

Radoslav Dimov was elected appellate prosecutor of Sofia in September 2019. Before that, he headed the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office. At the end of May this year, Dimov resigned on the grounds that he was suffering from a serious illness, and the Prosecution College of the Supreme Court accepted it.

He graduated in “Law” at the Faculty of Law of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski“ in 1999 and shortly after that he started working in the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office. From 2008 to 2017, he was the deputy head of the SRP, after which he became the district prosecutor of Sofia.

His name was involved in the scandal with the influence group in the judicial system of Martin Bojanov-Notariusa.

After Bojanov's murder, Greek businessman Anastasios Dikos told “24 Hours“ how the business of shipping magnate John Costas was harassed by people close to the Notary. Dikos claimed that Radoslav Dimov called their lawyer Alexander Chervenyakov and told him: “Regarding a problem you have with your Greek clients, let's meet to see how to solve it”. But such a meeting was refused.

At the same time, the name of Radoslav Dimov was also mentioned in a report presented to the deputies by the temporary parliamentary commission, which was supposed to clarify all the facts and circumstances of unregulated influence in the judicial system of Bojanov's group.

In this regard, he requested to be heard by the Prosecution College. The appellate prosecutor of Sofia stated to the personnel officers that he wants to clear his name given the fact that he suffers from an illness that does not give him much life.

He denied both the claims of the Greek businessman and that he knew Martin Bojanov. He only heard that he was a real estate fraudster.

Radoslav Dimov was also heard by the temporary parliamentary committee, where he confirmed that he did not know the Notary, but indicated that he had been to the "Eight Dwarves" restaurant because the cuisine was very good and he lived nearby. He stated that he did not see any other magistrates in the establishment.
