The Minister of Agriculture opens the harvest campaign from Zlatitrap

Harvest campaign 2024 will be opened today by the Acting Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Georgi Tahov. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. in the village of Zlatitrap, Plovdiv, the National Association of Grain Producers (NAZ) and the Ministry of Agriculture announced, quoted by BTA.

The event is part of the "Bread of Peace" European initiative, in which our country participates. The project was launched in 2013, when the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was symbolically celebrated. The initiative unites 12 countries from Central and Eastern Europe, which send to Germany rye harvested in the respective country, which is mixed and baked into the bread of peace.

"The beginning of the harvest is a long-awaited event, part of the Bulgarian national identity. Celebrating this day symbolizes respect for the bread and labor of farmers", NAZ emphasizes.

Traditionally, every year the event is hosted by a representative of the association from a different region of the country. This year it is the Union of Grain Producers from Plovdiv.

The event will begin with an official ceremony under the motto "May the wheat be golden in the field, may the berry be large in the ear!", after which the reaping ritual will take place.

The dance ensemble and choir from the Academy of Music, Dance and Visual Arts (AMTII) will take part in the music program – Plovdiv, as well as the duo Petya Maneva and Stiliyana-Rosa Mateva (Double M).
