At the meeting, a full cycle of reports and elections in the party will be scheduled, and the acting chairman of the BSP will be elected after the resignation submitted by Cornelia Ninova.
The BSP plenum will also have to determine the period in which the direct election for a new leader of the party will be held.
"We suffered a heavy loss in the elections for the 50th National Assembly and for the European Parliament. I take responsibility for these disastrous results and submit my resignation to each and every one of you - those who elected me as your president and the only ones who have the right to receive it", Ninova said a few days ago.
"And you should know that the door of our fortress will not be broken from the outside, but will be opened from the inside,", the red leader later commented after speculations by the internal party opposition that her resignation was sham.
Ninova has been at the head of the largest left-wing party in our country for 8 years. She was elected chairman of the BSP on May 8, 2016.
