From today, the schedule of some trains is changing, the press center of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) announced, BTA reported . The aim is to ease the traffic load and shunting activity at Central Station - Sofia during the modernization of the track development in the station.
Railway repair activities have been completed for seven out of a total of 14 tracks – from 1 to 5, 13 and 14. Working on tracks from 6 to 12.
The BDZ indicated that the dismantling activities are complete and excavation works are being carried out. Work is also underway on the construction of foundations for poles from the catenary network. A new route-relay centralization has been put into trial operation for the newly constructed tracks on which the trains run, the company added.

From May 7 this year the modernization of the track development of the Central Station in Sofia began. A change was also introduced in the movement of trains that arrive and depart mainly from and to the northern direction – Mezdra, Vidin, Varna, Ruse. It is expected that the construction and installation works on the track development of the Central Station - Sofia will last 15 months.
