President Rumen Radev convened the first session of the newly elected 50th National Assembly. Today at 9:00 a.m. the new 240 deputies will be sworn in, after which the old parliament will be dissolved, dariknews.bg reported.
According to the Constitution, the first session is opened by the oldest member of parliament present - Silvi Kirilov from “There is such a people” (ITN).
He is 73 years old, elected deputy from Burgas. He was the oldest representative in the 47th National Assembly and opened its first session on December 3, 2021.
Georgi Nikolaev Krastev from GERB-SDS is the youngest member of parliament. He is 24 years old, elected as an MP from Ruse. He was also the youngest deputy in the previous 49th National Assembly.
The distribution in the National Assembly of GERB-SDS has 68 deputies. DPS is represented by 47 people's representatives. "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" have 39 deputies. "Revival" there will be a parliamentary group with 38 people. "BSP for Bulgaria" will be with 19 people's representatives. "There is such a people" are three less - 16 deputies. "Majesty" is the smallest parliamentary group with 13 deputies. There are 176 men in the new parliament, and 64 women.
The resigned chairman of “Yes, Bulgaria” and elected as a national representative in the 50th National Assembly from 24 MIR Hristo Ivanov will not be a deputy. He will be sworn in and immediately thereafter file an application for early termination of his powers.
Also today, the chairman of the National Assembly and vice-chairmen must be elected.
Yesterday, GERB leader Boyko Borisov announced that his party will nominate Raya Nazaryan as Speaker of the National Assembly.
Not long after, PP-DB and BSP announced that they would not support Nazaryan.
Nikolay Denkov stated to journalists that they will not put forward a candidacy. And the socialists announced that they will propose Dragomir Stoynev for vice-president.
The official oath of the new people's representatives will start the consultation procedure with the president, which will lead to the delivery of the first exploratory mandate to form a government.
It is not yet known what will be the fate of the first mandate, which should be handed to the first political force GERB-SDS.
