„There is no coup and revanchism against Cornelia Ninova. After the resignation, we want to convene a national council, to elect her deputy to perform the functions until a new chairman is elected.“ This is what Alexander Simov from BSP said.
He clarified that there was a proposal to punish Ninova, but it was not voted on and there is no intention to do so.
„Punishment means not having the right to run for party and public posts for one year. The National Council voted nothing of the sort. There is no revanchism, there were such proposals, but in the end nothing like that was decided, precisely because there is no coup. There is a statutory procedure for the BSP to get out of the crisis it has fallen into, Simov added.
Yesterday, the former BSP leader commented on the election results, comparing the crisis in the party to a palace coup.
„Heavily losing the election, disastrous results, I took responsibility and resigned. Someone called what happened a palace coup. A palace coup with pawns and pawns, because behind what is currently happening in the BSP, completely different forces stand”. This was said by the former chairman of the BSP, Cornelia Ninova.
In her words, over the years, she has faced five strong and large groups that have united and what is happening to her is the natural conclusion.
She resigned as BSP leader after the June 9 elections. This is not the first time that Kornelia Ninova has resigned. In 2021, she resigned again, but remained in charge because she was rejected.
In 2023, her resignation was requested by the MEP Petar Vitanov. The then acting Minister of Justice and BSP member Krum Zarkov supported him.
