Ivan Demerdzhiev: The services are important for a certain type of political forces that need them - 1

The elections that took place were a clear illustration of how important the controlled vote is with low voter turnout. The contrast between turnout in a country and in separate small sections is very sharp. The reason why the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not take action was the leadership, which was looking away. We can very clearly explain the support for this minister that he received. Kalin Stoyanov is very valuable, we found out why in this and the previous elections. He declared his readiness to remain in any power, without even knowing which political parties will form a cabinet.

This was commented by former interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev.

According to his words, a large part of the criticism that came from GERB to the official offices was that personnel changes were made.

"Now a purge has been made, and within 1-2 weeks of the entry of this official cabinet, changes have been made at various levels in the state. Now the members of the DCSI, which had not been filled for a long time, have also been filled. Nobody comments on these changes openly, they just happen," Demerdzhiev told Bulgaria ON AIR.

He is of the opinion that the services are important "for a certain type of political forces that need such actions". Demerdzhiev stressed that they should be politically isolated and neutral.

"At the time when I worked, the services were neutral and were not used as a club. The many talks about reforms in the services of the participants in the assembly come down to personnel changes. It is important for them to have their people in certain places", the former interior minister believes.

According to him, the Anti-Corruption Commission has split into two "only by book".

"The commission bequeathed by Tsatsarov remained in it, with the same composition. As for judicial reform, the election of a new Supreme Judicial Council is blocked. If the parties wanted judicial reform, they would have adopted the air defense bills," Demerdzhiev pointed out.

When asked if President Rumen Radev formed a party, would he join, Demerdzhiev replied that he had full confidence in him and had always supported him.
