I think we have observed a logical process on election of the Speaker of the National Assembly, this was a formula that was discussed even before the elections – GERB, as the first political force, has the right to make this proposal, DPS, with which they had declared that they have common policies, as well as ITN, which was a logical supporter of this formula.
This is what the sociologist from “Alfa Research” Boryana Dimitrova.
According to her, no other formula than this could have been expected.
For the political scientist Irena Todorova, the behavior of ITN was more surprising, since, according to her, they have been in the Bulgarian parliament for a long time.
It seemed to me that their anti-establishment character had already been tamed by parliamentarism and they would begin to manifest themselves as a classic, predictable political party that largely knows its price and its place. What ITN has been doing in the last few days is artificially raising its price, she said.
According to her, the insistence of ITN to get the third mandate to form a government is puzzling.
„It seems to be heading towards a similar scenario, which raises a few questions for me – what would this bring for Borisov and for Peevski, to support such an ITN cabinet, and is this a sufficient condition for some stability in the next one year. Isn't this the scarier scenario, instead of going to new elections?“, Todorova also commented.
According to Boryana Dimitrova, it is logical that GERB should be the leading political force, both when electing the Speaker of the National Assembly and when forming a government.
