The Acting Government is ready to approve the draft law on introduction in the coming days of the euro in Bulgaria and submit it for consideration by the National Assembly. This was said by the acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ludmila Petkova at her meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva in Luxembourg before the start of the Eurogroup meeting in an extended format, in which she took part today, the Ministry of Finance announced.
At the meeting, Minister Petkova presented the progress in the process of technical and practical preparation for the introduction of the single European currency in the country. She emphasized that the timely introduction of the regulations regulating the process is an important condition for its smooth running.
Kristalina Georgieva expressed her support for the actions of the Bulgarian government for the realization of this strategic goal for the country and emphasized the importance of Bulgaria's membership in the eurozone as a factor for protecting the monetary policy, supporting the Bulgarian economy and increasing foreign investments. The agenda for the meeting includes a discussion of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, with amendments to Ireland's plan expected to be approved. Among the topics discussed will be the economic and financial consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
