Two thousand BGN hit the monthly salary for a maid in Sunny Beach, but there are no candidates to work in such positions. In the height of the season, the seaside hotels in the south are already full and the staff is in short supply. In order to secure the hotels and restaurants with people, the pickpockets have untied the wallets, but despite this, workers are hard to find.
Wages in the tourism industry have almost doubled this season compared to two or three years ago. Salaries for receptionists start from BGN 1,600 and up, for cooks the salary is at least 4-5 BGN, and for washing machines in the kitchen, they count BGN 1,700, writes "Telegraph".
Announcements
The electronic platforms are looking for more grill workers for a monthly salary of BGN 1,900. For waiters and bartenders, salaries also start at BGN 2,000, and tips are on top. Many restaurateurs also promise waiters a percentage of the turnover above the basic salary.
The best paid are the waiters in the discotheques and evening clubs, who, together with the tips, receive a minimum of BGN 5,000 per month. Ice cream stall sellers are also wanted at all resorts, and the payment there is BGN 80-100 per day. As animators, mostly students or students in the upper classes are appointed and their salaries are lower - from BGN 1,200 to BGN 1,400.
The staffing problem is getting worse every year, hoteliers complain. They claim that the risk of the season failing due to the lack of service staff is very real.
„We have bookings and contracts to fulfill. Tourists arrive, and there is no one to prepare their rooms, to stock bed linen. There is no one to cook lunch and dinner.
What do we say to tourists who have paid for a meal holiday? Sorry, but we can't find people to work - is that what we should tell them?! This is a dangerous time bomb that can explode at any moment, hoteliers comment.
Complaints
In the Burgas region, there is an entire army in the camp of the permanently unemployed, who, however, know their price and do not agree to pay for yellow pennies. “They ran out of staff because they lied to their workers for years. They promised one salary, but at the end of the season we received twice less.
There were also brats who did not pay the staff at all. They put everyone on a probationary period and before the month was out, they were inventing a reason to fire the workers. They appointed new ones and treated them like this. Eventually they all got fed up and each got a job abroad. All qualified personnel fled abroad. Now they should import Indians and Pakistanis," commented a long-time worker in the industry.
