The political situation in the parliament is unclear, with an unclear future, doubts whether we will not go to another parliamentary election. With low voter turnout, the legitimacy of the National Assembly falls. This in front of Radio "Focus“ BSP MP Ivan Petkov - Bebeto.
The thesis of the BSP for the first and second terms is that it cannot support them because there is a decision of the National Council. In the third mandate, the National Council must convene and decide what will be done, but the president must know to whom he will give it.
“Our readiness to assume the third mandate will be discussed with the National Council, and then with the other formations in the National Assembly", said Ivan Petkov.
According to him, when it comes to analysis, time is needed. In the National Council, there were established reasons why this result was reached. The war with the presidency is indicated, which brings negatives. He reminded that the president was elected twice with the support of the BSP.
“Infighting also leads to low voter turnout and alienates voters. The attacks in the media against each other. There is no sole authority, as was said before.
He hopes that in time they will have opportunities for internal dialogue, to point out where their mistakes are, and it may even lead to a change in the Statute.
“At the National Council on June 15, no one spoke about the abolition of direct elections. A direct election of the leader of the BSP is scheduled for November," said the BSP deputy.
When looking for mistakes, a variety of theories come out, he supports the thesis that the BSP is a more Euro-Atlantic formation, and its sympathizers have an attitude and vision towards the East, they do not want to destroy their relations with Russia, their positions with Ukraine.
“We see what is happening in the Middle East, much more striking than what is happening in Ukraine and everyone is silent, I am talking about the pro-Ukraine supporters. Genocide is indeed taking place in Palestine against ordinary people.
For the factions in the BSP and the persons who are commented on such as Kiril Dobrev, Georgi Gerov, they are excluded from the BSP. The insinuations that are being made these days further fuel the negative attitude of society towards us. I beg each of the colleagues within the party not to make such suggestions, because this time we have 7%, then 6%, and next time we will fight for the barrier, precisely because of the internal battles. At the moment, much more shocking things are going on in the DPS, but no one is commenting on them", noted Ivan Petkov.
He thinks there will be a new BSP leader, but he can't say who because there are no prominent people running in the race yet. First they should have nominations and then there should be a battle of ideas.
“BSP is in a huge crisis and the danger that it may not be represented in parliament exists. There must be ideas to be followed and a new beginning to be made. It's okay to be heard. We should talk about electing local persons-leaders of lists.
In many areas, people are offered, in most cases from Sofia, and perhaps that is why their messages do not reach the local people. Now we are looking for a way to regain trust in us, to stop the wars - internal and external, to seek unification with the left formations, since their germ in one way or another is the BSP.
Our leadership must seek rapprochement with these formations. Young people are greener, but in the bigger cities, the watered-down politics of the BSP is absent. When my child turns 18, I would like to have the opportunity to vote for BSP", concluded Ivan Petkov-Bebeto.
