President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliyana Yotova will participate in today from 15: 00 hours in the enthronement ceremony of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch in the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky", announced the press office of the head of state, BNT reported.
During the ceremony, the President will deliver a welcoming speech.
At 18:00 in front of the Monument to the Unknown Warrior, the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Rumen Radev will receive the line of honor of the representative companies of the National Guard, after which a ritual of raising the national flag will take place.
The Head of State and His Holiness the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch will lay wreaths and pay their respects in front of the Unknown Warrior Monument, after which a solemn march of the representative companies of the National Guard will take place.
The head of state will be accompanied by his wife Desislava Radeva.
The Patriarchal Electoral Church Council will begin early in the morning with Matins and Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Palace.
On June 20, at its full session and by secret ballot, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church chose the three diocesan metropolitans as worthy candidates to occupy the patriarchal throne. These are Metropolitan Grigoriy of Vratsa, Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin and Metropolitan Gavriil of Lovchan.
