Possible early elections will be a motivation for the local DPS structures to work more actively, for Dogan

Parties created not only by separatists, but also by financial centers – Kovachki, Bozhkov, etc., they do not exist for long and cannot be a factor in Bulgarian political life. possible early elections will be a motivation for local DPS structures to work more actively, for Dogan.

The political scientist Mehmed Mehmed is categorical about this before the BNR, according to whom what is happening in the DPS will end in separation.

And after the separation, the DPS will get back on track and become even more active, he predicted to BNR. According to him, possible early elections will be a motivation for local DPS structures to work more actively, for Dogan.

"After the council, most likely, Delyan Peevski and Yordan Tsonev will have to form their own political party, where they will eventually rely on the areas where Peevski worked when he was part of the DPS.

Political scientist Associate Professor Daniel Smilov agreed that Peevski's new formation has no future in the long term.

"The resource that such a formation will have is mostly financial, some type of connections, influence on certain state bodies, prosecutor's office, services, but this is not a basis on which a party formation can be built. DPS is a party that has its own electorate. It performs important representative functions. Now we will see some rift between political representation and the corporate element. A large part of the corporate baggage of the DPS will remain outside the Movement.

In the show "Sunday 150" Prof. Smilov reminded that the split in the party happened after the formation of a government with the first mandate of GERB.

"This whole format, if it had gone through, would have practically depended on Peevski. /…/ Perhaps this was the reason why Dogan pulled the brakes, because he considered that such an option was not profitable for the Movement, it would cause him reputational damage,", he explained.

Mehmed Mehmed added that for Peevski, this government was an important tool to show himself as a savior.

"Peevski was becoming a bigger, bigger, bigger political entity. This phenomenon, in one way or another, had to be brought down, to be pulled from the political scene already. Here is a convenient occasion for Mr. Dogan to end Peevski's career.

Daniel Smilov pointed out that PP-DB are in a difficult situation:

"In this parliament there is a majority that can realize a government. This is a majority around GERB, DPS in its various modifications and some of their affiliated organizations. It was a logical majority. PP-DB cannot be part of this majority purely ideologically. They know that in practice they do not have a solid majority behind them. The task is difficult, because if we go to another election, we risk losing a lot of money and chances for the Eurozone, and throwing the country into chaos. They should come up with some kind of proposal. The drama is that whatever government they propose, the majority I described will be behind it – PP-DB have zero or minimal influence on it".

According to him, the whole question is whether GERB and DPS are interested in such a government. GERB's position is that elections are the better solution. However, according to the political scientist, new elections bring an option for dramatic developments.

Mehmed Mehmed thinks that it would be better for PP-DB to return the mandate and wait for the next elections. "To bear this political responsibility is a mistake, because too many negatives can get out of this patterned mosaic on which they have to step. The responsibility will be theirs, the dividends - to others, who will again point the finger at them", he commented.
