A disaster involving a tram happened at a busy intersection in Sofia after Whatman ran a red light and hit cars stopped at a traffic light. The event was documented and published on social networks, specifically in the group “Spotted in Sofia” on Facebook. Video footage shows the tram moving at high speed and causing a serious collision with several cars. There were also injured people in the incident.
According to witnesses, this is not the first offense of this whatman. Stories are circulating on social media that the same driver has been running red lights and hitting cars for several days. This information causes strong reactions and indignation among citizens.
Nikolai Koritarov, head of the Iskar tram depot, commented on the incident in the program "Hello, Bulgaria". on NOVA. According to him, the whatman who drove the motorcar had no such previous occurrences registered. “The traffic accident on Tuesday is his fault because he passed a prohibitory signal. It hit two cars," explained Koritarov.
According to Koritarov, whatman has two years of experience, a university degree and is not a conflicted person. “During this period, no serious violations were registered on his part. He gets along well with his colleagues, he emphasized.
The intersection where the incident happened is known for conflict situations. “There are cars parked on the lawns. The traffic light, which the tram driver had to follow, was visible at the last moment because it was blocked by the nearby warehouse”, added Koritarov.
