BGN 1,578 initial aid will be given to the victims of the fires in the country, said the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov. The money will be paid immediately after applications are submitted to the "Social Assistance" Agency, BNT reports.
Separately, the victims of the fires can submit documents to the municipality for assistance of BGN 2,500 from the "Social Protection" fund.
People left without a home can also apply for help under the "Disasters and Accidents" fund, but after the fire elements have been finally extinguished. For people who do not have a second home, a place for temporary accommodation will be sought within the municipality.
Minister of the Interior Kalin Stoyanov defined the actions of the responsible institutions as adequate, including in the village of Voden.
"The fact that there were no victims or injured in Voden indicates that the reaction of everyone on the ground was adequate. It was an outbreak which, unfortunately, we were unable to locate, and so there was no threat at first, but in a very sudden change of wind which occurred, the whole village was engulfed in flames on all sides.
Heavy equipment and helicopters from the Czech Republic and Turkey are involved in extinguishing the two biggest fires - near the Plovdiv village of Otets Paisievo and the Yambol village of Voden.
Last night, a helicopter and heavy equipment arrived from Turkey, which crossed the border and got involved in extinguishing the fire in Yambolsko. At the moment, the equipment is on standby and is waiting at the border to be turned on again if necessary.
Near Otets Paisievo, the perimeter of the fire is limited, but in the event of a strong wind, the situation may deteriorate again. Two helicopters sent from the Czech Republic are helping with the extinguishing.
Minister of the Interior Kalin Stoyanov clarified that a forest fire cannot be extinguished with helicopters alone. Their function is to bring the flames down low, where they can be extinguished by the teams on the ground.
An investigation is yet to be carried out as to who is to blame for the elements. In the minister's opinion, it is a matter of careless and negligent behavior of individual citizens.
Kalin Stoyanov also commented on the resignation that was asked of him by PP-DB because of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in dealing with the fires.
"Again? I've already lost count of how many times I've been asked to resign by these very people. Sad story! I personally cannot comment on their requests at this time. I will not resign. "People who have probably seen fire only when a match is burning, to explain what and how it should have happened is not correct," Stoyanov said.
