Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and interior minister Kalin Stoyanov gave a briefing in the village of Mamarchevo.
"On the territory of Krainovo, Voden and Sharkovo, we are working on three fronts, which have spread the fires quite widely. One of them goes to the Bulgarian-Turkish border, which is relatively close. In reality, several houses in the village are affected. It is a small village. The houses that are affected are about 10. As half of them are not habitable all the time of the year. The other part of them has been inhabited periodically over the years. We will work with the two defense helicopters, plus the two helicopters from the Czech Republic. We also received readiness from the French colleagues that they can respond with two helicopters, we have announced them too. The gas station is secured," said Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov, quoted by BNT.
Asked why there is not enough equipment to control the fires, Minister Stoyanov stated:
"Every summer it gets worse. About 70% of the equipment at the disposal of the main directorate "Fire safety and protection of the population" - about 800 fire fighting vehicles, 70% of them were purchased in the last 7-8 years."
"The village was secured, but the high temperature and sudden change of wind direction made the situation in Voden very complicated. We pray for no wind."
"Every 20 minutes, to say the least, there are reports of severe fires," Kalin Stoyanov emphasized.
Official Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said that the Security Council under the Council of Ministers will be convened tomorrow.
Glavchev announced that the Minister of Transport has a meeting with the mobile operators today and today they will take action to install a mobile cell in Voden-
He explained that mobile operators have promised to install a cell today. However, according to him, only one mobile cell will not do the job.
"There is no immediate danger to Krainovo, but the wind is extremely strong at the moment. For us, this is a huge problem, regardless of that, we worked all night for the construction of clearings", stressed Chief Commissioner Alexander Zhartov - Director of the Main Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population".
