More than a week after the start of the fire disaster in the country, the situation with the fires is under control.
"For the most part, fires are due to human error - he starts to mow, hits a stone and sparks fly. The second reason - a bottle thrown into the meadow - in such heat, when peeing, it turns into a magnifying glass, starts a fire and everything starts. There may be a deliberate fire here somewhere, but for me, 99% of the time, it's human error or carelessness," commented agricultural law attorney Plamen Abrovski in the studio of "The Day ON AIR".
In his words, it is too conspiratorial and ugly that the fires were intentional, and he pointed out that every year there is cyclical talk first of floods, then of hail and forest fires.
Extinguishing equipment has not been purchased for years
"There are people, there is no technology. The vast majority of fires start in forest areas. State forestry enterprises and the Forestry Executive Agency are responsible for forest territories. Ask the minister when water carriers were bought to extinguish fires in rough terrain - more than 8-9 years ago, Abrovski said.
On the air of Bulgaria ON AIR, he pointed out that the first people who go to the field in the event of a forest fire are the forest officials. If they fail to control the flames, the "Civil Defense", "Fire Safety" and the military intervene.
"When the fire comes to the edge of the village, when you see a 20 m wall of fire, how will you stop it? Usually these settlements border a forest. The forest officials are doing their best, but there is no equipment. A water carrier is a pickup truck with a ton of water, it's not a lot of water, but it can get to the right place at the right time," the agricultural law attorney gave an example.

He also commented on the EU compensation option for farmers.
"It is an individual "de minimis" - I come and give you 25,000 because you have suffered. They are for 3 years, if for the previous 2 years you took "de minimis", it is calculated in this amount, if you didn't take it and next year there is a fire, you won't be able to take it then, explained the lawyer.
The main problem, according to him, is the lack of a long-term vision for the prevention of fires, floods, hail.
"We cannot be cheap on flour, expensive on bran. The situation at present is the product of the lack of thought for a long time. Short-term measures are important to them - for tractors and irrigation," Plamen Abrovski said.
