The municipal councilors today /b.r. yesterday/ they voted to the detriment of the city and the people of Varna, said Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev, quoted by BTA.
Occasion for the extraordinary press conference of his team, in the presence of the deputy from "We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria" Daniel Laurer, was the decision of the local parliament to reject the allocation of money from the budget for the preparation of complex reports to assess the compliance of investment projects. According to the mayor, with their decision, the councilors are in danger of blocking the possibility of Varna receiving 100 million leva from the state for this year and a total of 300 million leva until 2026. Kotsev also indicated that he will insist to the chairman of the Municipal Council (ObS) Hristo Dimitrov to be called an extraordinary session so that deadlines for the appropriation of the funds do not expire.
The mayor also added that there was pressure on the administration for various appointments and called on the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov to answer whether the municipal councilors from the formation voted against Varna on a party order or it was a decision at the local level. Kotsev pointed out that the mayor's team and the administration are open to dialogue with the representatives of all political forces in the local parliament.
The position of the councilors was defended by the members of the chairman's council headed by the chairman Hristo Dimitrov. According to him, the institutional opposition can stop if everyone starts minding their own business. We are obliged to work together, the transfer of responsibilities is frivolous, Dimitrov pointed out. In his words, the mayor's disdainful attitude towards the Municipal Corporation is not from today. Nikolay Kostadinov from “Vazrazhdane“ added that it is a practice for the administration not to provide the necessary information, but to try to impress upon the citizens of Varna that the failure to manage the city is the fault of the council, not the mayor's team.
According to Todor Balabanov from GERB ObS, there is no way to vote for money without presenting a single ready-made project. There is no urgent need to vote these funds, he explained. According to him, the administration has not presented the complete list of projects that would be financed by the state, as well as how much money will be directed to each of them. Nobody is against receiving the BGN 100 million from the Ministry of Finance, but first let information be presented, Balabanov pointed out and emphasized that it was for this reason that more than half of the councilors today did not vote "against" but "abstained". ;. If the mayor cannot cope with his duties, the way is to resign, Balabanov also commented.
The chairman's council stated that they are ready for a dialogue with the administration, because this is the way to reach an agreement and the city does not suffer.
