The Constitutional Court canceled almost entirely another reform of the judicial system.
"I had predicted that if it comes to the Constitutional Court - all these texts for changes that refer to the judiciary will fall. But it is one thing to wage an ideological battle and maintain the front, it is quite another to wait for a decision from the Central Committee. Surprises can always happen there, the pressure is huge both on the political circles and on the Central Committee.
This is what the professor of constitutional law Prof. Georgi Bliznashki said in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".
According to him, the pressure was on all the time.
"The assemblage was a creation of external pressure. What is happening to our Constitution is that it is falling victim to the Ukrainian war. Thank God, it was understood what it was about and the Supreme Court took the right position. After all, this is also his function - to be the guardian of the Constitution", Prof. Bliznashki added for Bulgaria ON AIR.
According to him, this is a historic decision.
"As for the other side - Hristo Ivanov and his friends, this is a spectacular failure from which they will not recover soon. The fateful decision has to do with the judiciary. This is the great achievement. And as for the official government - President Rumen Radev behaves extremely selfishly in this situation, he did not dispute the judicial reform", the guest also commented.
He is of the opinion that there are no competent lawyers in the presidency.
"The changes in Art. 99 were completely pointless. The way they were done showed the complete incompetence of Hristo Ivanov and his circle of friends, because he himself is not capable of producing any independent idea. There are many hidden players who want to see the judicial system broken," Prof. Georgi Bliznashki is emphatic.
He added that the judiciary should be removed from politics.
