Two big fires broke out in the area of the village of Zlatosel in Brezovica and the forest near Svezhen and near Hisar Chernichevo village. Six fire engines were dispatched to both locations, and two helicopters were also called, reported the Plovdiv fire department.
A helicopter was also called in the area of Zlatosel, as there was a danger to the forest near Svezhen. Villas and cars have burned, and the fire has covered the forest and is moving towards Svezhen, announced the municipality of Brezovo. The director of RDPBZN-Plovdiv, senior commissioner Vasil Dimov, and the mayor of Brezovo municipality, Kalin Kalapankov, are on the spot.
At 5:46 p.m., a Mi-17 helicopter took off from the Krumovo airbase to control the fire. The actions of the firefighters are difficult because of the steep, rocky terrain, BNR reported.
The Municipality called for help from volunteers. Those responding to the request to bring shovels and appropriate wading tools and to be appropriately dressed is the other recommendation for those willing to help.
In a short time, the other big fire that broke out on the outskirts of Chernichevo was brought under control. There was danger to the houses of the village, but the wind turned the fire towards the nearby dam. There is no danger to residents and their houses. A crew from the 24th air base in Krumovo with a “Cougar“ took part in the control of the fire element in the land of Chernichevo village, Hisarya municipality, Plovdiv region. The helicopter took off from the airbase at 5:28 p.m. to help put out the fire, which was burning dry grass and brush.
At the moment, agricultural machinery, fire trucks and volunteers from the Hisarya Voluntary Formation, as well as volunteers from the village are crossing the path of the fire towards the Karatoprak dam.
The grass near the village of Markovo caught fire again, and fire engines were sent there as well. They caught fire at noon, but three fire teams quickly brought the fire under control in the Kokardzha area.
