A driver breathing a balloon believed to be filled with paradise gas was filmed behind the wheel of a major metropolitan intersection. The video quickly went viral on social media and sparked outrage and a flurry of comments. Shortly after it appeared on the web, the video also provoked the reaction of the police. For NOVA, the SDVR said that they had self-referred to the case and had already established who was behind the wheel.

The video was shot at the intersection where journalist Milen Tsvetkov was hit and killed. A witness says that the man stopped in the left lane and continued straight. However, this was not the only violation that the woman witnessed. “Further down at another traffic light we saw the balloon filling up in his lap. Then on Boulevard “Nikola Vaptsarov” with two lanes to the right, he made a left turn. He drove off with a lot of gas”, adds the eyewitness.

The police found the driver around 10 o'clock this morning in the area of Dolni Bogrov. A 26-year-old man was behind the wheel. Alcohol and drug tests were negative. However, he admitted that he was under the influence of paradise gas. The SDVR stated that a warning protocol was issued to the driver.

„The police also have their hands tied as far as this is difficult to prove and verify with drug tests. Purely legally, paradise gas is in a legal hole, as it is not on the list of narcotic substances”, Iliya Todorov from the Association of Accident Victims pointed out.

The doctors are also powerless against the consequences of the use of paradise gas. Anesthesiologists explain that sometimes they can be fatal. “A person gets dizzy, during which he becomes not very adequate, criticality drops. These people can literally become old men, unable to move normally due to vitamin B12 deficiency. If they inhale a larger amount, suffocation may occur. Its combination with alcohol and some types of narcotics enhances the effect," explained the action of the heavenly gas, the anesthesiologist-reanimator at UMBAL "St. Ekaterina" Prof. Filip Abedinov. The Ministry of Health reminds that several legislative initiatives of deputies have been launched at the moment, the aim of which is to limit the distribution and use of cyanide gas.
