The European Commission has requested an explanation from Bulgaria because of the adopted amendments to the law on preschool and school education. With them, the deputies banned the propaganda and incitement of sexuality other than biological in schools.
Brussels confirmed that the letter was sent on August 13 by the European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dali and was addressed to the Minister of Education Galin Tsokov.
In its letter, the European Commission wants the minister to argue the need for legal changes.
An assessment will then begin as to whether the texts violate European law.
The ministry commented to NOVA that they are still working on their answer, for which they have a two-month deadline.
