What is the option for the way out of the political labyrinth? The professor of constitutional law Assoc. Dr. Hristo Ormandzhiev sought the answers before Nova TV.
He pointed out that the most definitive outcome is the one prescribed by the Constitution, namely to continue the consultations with the president and under the so-called home book to find a person to undertake the management of the country.
„The limited selection of candidates has resulted in the president not having much of a choice. There are not many candidates, the choice will undoubtedly be between several people, he added.
„The other option is to supplement the “home book”, but this is a complicated process, as it requires the consent of the political forces, the National Assembly is on vacation, proposals must be prepared. This requires time”, added the teacher.
„The third option, which is the most improbable, is an amendment to the Constitution, for which, however, a qualified majority is required,” explained Prof. Ormandzhiev.
He said a constitutional procedure must be followed to appoint a caretaker cabinet and schedule elections. “We will not be left without a government, the question is whether the constitutional procedure related to the appointment of a new interim government will be fulfilled,” Ormandzhiev also said.
He specified that the Constitution does not specify in what period the caretaker government should be appointed.
