Asen Vassilev: Rumen Radev is no longer Louis XIV - he cannot rule alone - 1

President Rumen Radev can no longer is experienced as Louis XIV, and already two people must agree on an official government. The problem at the moment is that the “homebook” is empty. The Ombudsman left at the end of the previous regular office. A procedure had begun for the appointment of a new one, but the government fell and we went into an election campaign. In the Audit Chamber, the mandates of the vice-chairmen have expired.

This is what he said in the show “This morning“ Asen Vassilev, co-chairman of “We continue the change” and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

„What do you know, after the Constitution was changed, there is no way for one man to appoint all the power to himself like Louis XIV. It takes two people to understand each other, and as we have seen, this is not possible – I'm talking about the president and the potential new acting prime minister," he explained.

Asen Vassilev also commented that it is not a precedent for the president not to issue a decree on the appointment of someone and gave as an example what happened during the swearing-in of the new constitutional judges, when Rosen Plevneliev left the hall and thus boycotted Veneta Markovska.

According to Asen Vassilev, a cabinet will be elected. What from “We continue the change“ have proposed, is to convene the National Assembly and fill in the “domestic book”.

The co-chairman of “We continue the change“ he also said that the problem for the candidates from the BNB is that “they can assume the post of interim prime minister, but then they cannot return to their position”.

There was no such problem with the management of the Audit Chamber, but the problem with Dimitar Glavchev was that he also assumed the duties of Minister of Foreign Affairs. However, it turns out that he was sworn in only as an acting prime minister, but not as a minister, which, according to Asen Vassilev, is some sort of omission.

„The problem at the moment is that “the home book” is empty. The Ombudsman left at the end of the previous regular office. A procedure had begun for the appointment of a new one, but the government fell and we went into an election campaign. In the Audit Chamber, the mandates of the vice-presidents have expired”, the former deputy prime minister also said.

„Our proposal when we were considering changes to the Constitution was that the regular government should work until a new one is elected. Subsequently, this was reformatted into having a caretaker government, but the prime minister being elected from a certain list of people”, explained Asen Vassilev.
