I am the representative of Bulgaria in the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank, and especially for me, it is absolutely impossible to even comment on a possible option to take over the function of prime minister.
This was stated by BNB Deputy Governor Radoslav Milenkov after the meeting with President Rumen Radev.
"My conversations with the president always go the same way – I explained to him in detail, I repeated again that, in addition to my functions in the BNB as deputy governor, I am a member of both the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank and the Supervisory Board of the European Banking Authority, with the resulting limitations. The only new difference now is that I am currently managing the "Issue" as an addition to the "Banking Supervision" department, said Milenkov.
The deputy governor of the BNB explained that it did not even come to a direct question whether he could take the position of acting prime minister, since the situation for him, for the president, and also for the public is clear, namely that there are limitations , which do not allow him to head such a post.
"I work professionally at both the Central Bank and the European Central Bank. I am directly on the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank", he emphasized again.
Milenkov stated that he would not give evaluations to his colleague Petar Chobanov, who expressed his readiness to take the post of interim prime minister. "He is a serious enough man to judge for himself what position to take. I say again, I am the representative of Bulgaria in the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank, and especially for me it is absolutely impossible to even comment on a possible option of taking over the function of Prime Minister", he is categorical.
