We are celebrating 147 years of the Shipchen epic. The culmination of the national celebrations, which began on August 19, will take place on Mount Shipka, the Municipality of Gabrovo reports on its page, where the program for the celebrations is published, BTA reported.
In front of the Freedom Monument, Vice President Iliana Yotova will participate in the celebrations of the 147th anniversary of the Shipchen epic, the press office of the president announced. Deputy Minister of Defense Radostin Iliev will also participate in the national celebration, the Ministry of Defense announced.
The program will begin in the Sokol monastery at 7:45 a.m., where a memorial service will be held in memory of those who died in the Shipchen battles, adds the Municipality of Gabrovo. A tourist hike to the top will depart from the monastery at 8:45. A tourist hike will also depart from Uzana at 8:00 a.m. and at 9:00 a.m. from the Nativity of Christ temple-monument. in the city of Shipka. After the end of the official ceremony, at 12:00 a theatrical reenactment will take place, through which the battles from the epic will be recreated.
This year, the celebrations will take place under the sign of the 90th anniversary of the dedication of the Freedom Monument.
Free buses for the celebrations on August 24 are provided by the organizers from Gabrovo to Shipka. The buses will leave at 9:00 a.m. from the “Vazrazhdane” and they will transport citizens as long as there are those willing. After completion of the restoration, the buses will take those who wish back to Gabrovo at 2:00 p.m. Free transport is also provided for the tourist trips. Exhibition “The Last Battle” of National Park-Museum “Shipka-Buzludzha“ and History Museum – Dryanovo will be opened on August 26 at the National Museum of Education in Gabrovo. On August 27, there will be a presentation of the book “ Militants from the Gabrovska region” of Angel Angelov, it is clear from the program of the celebrations.
