„In the process of registration of the administrative proceedings carried out by the CEC, only the current situation is considered. That is, how the party is registered in the Sofia court, where is the register and who are the representatives. There cannot be two parties with the same name, including on the ballots. No additional names can be added to the current status. Only when a coalition is registered, then its name can be freer and include other elements”. Stefan Manov, deputy chairman of the Public Council at the CEC, commented on this on NOVA.
He explained in detail how a party registers for elections:
„We must be aware of the step-by-step procedure for registering a party. What happens today - who is first and who is second - does not matter. The administration of the CEC must enter in the register all received applications, even the most random ones. After that, the chairman of the CEC distributes the files to the rapporteurs. Only the Commission in its plenary session votes on a decision. The report must be adopted by a 2/3 majority. If this does not happen, a rejection decision is issued, which can be appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court. I believe that all this road will be walked. These are not precedents. In 2009, there was a similar drama with the registration of the “Blue Coalition”.
