An unusual phenomenon rocked the night sky over Varna in the late hours of yesterday. According to information provided by the specialized weather portal Meteo Balkans, a meteorite was observed falling over the sea capital.
Experts from Meteo Balkans explain that meteorites are cosmic bodies that reach the Earth's surface, coming from interplanetary space. They are actually remnants of meteors that have not completely disintegrated during their passage through our planet's atmosphere.
Eyewitnesses to such a phenomenon usually describe an intensely glowing object of visibly larger dimensions moving across the sky. Specialists specify that the term "meteorite" (or "meteor body") refers to a solid body of relatively small size traveling in interplanetary space. It becomes a meteor upon entering the Earth's atmosphere.
An interesting fact is that meteorites can be classified as iron or stone, depending on their composition. When it comes to a larger meteor, visible even in daylight and sometimes accompanied by sound, the fireball formed by its explosion is defined as a bolide.
