„National Electric Company” EAD launched a public order for the supply and replacement of generators, turbines, main and auxiliary equipment, control systems, tests and commissioning of hydrounit 1 (ХА1) and hydrounit 4 (ХА4) in the Chaira PAVEC. The company will be looking for a contractor to completely replace the two hydro units, after a series of analyzes and studies found that the ones used so far are heavily depreciated and the optimal long-term solution is to build new ones.
PAVETS “Chaira“ is the largest pumped storage hydropower plant in the region with a key role for the security and balancing of the electricity system.
„Replacing the old ones with two completely new units at the plant based on modern high-tech solutions will guarantee its long-term sustainable operation and improve the security and efficient management of the electricity system,” said the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov on this occasion. According to him, the restoration of the work of PAVETS “Chaira“ is among the main priorities of the government. “Implementation of the large-scale project will contribute to the successful integration of the growing production of electricity from renewable sources and the realization of the decarbonization goals of the country”, he added.
The scope of the public procurement includes design, manufacture, delivery of the equipment, dismantling of the existing and installation of the supplied new equipment, author's supervision, adjustment, testing and commissioning, training of personnel and elimination of defects within the warranty period of all equipment , specified in the technical specification. The estimated value of the order is BGN 220,526,890 excluding VAT, and the deadline – 42 months. The deadline for submitting offers is November 15, 2024.
