By the time of the checkpoint "The Tower" a column of trucks formed about two kilometers long, according to observations by a BTA reporter. Unlike cargo trucks, cars pass smoothly and without the need to wait.
During the past weekend, the morning traffic at the exit of the point was increased, while in the afternoon the traffic returned to normal and the passage was peaceful.
According to data from the Greek border authorities, in July of this year through the checkpoint "Promahon" 2,100,000 people have crossed, of which 1,087,000 entered Greece and 1,013,000 left the country.
For comparison, 1,150,000 people passed through the checkpoint in June, making a total of 3,250,000 people in the first two summer months of the year. The data from 2023 are also similar, when 3,290,000 people passed through the point during the same period.
