Bulgaria highly values its partnership with the Basel Institute for Good Governance to increase efficiency in the fight against corruption, President Rumen Radev said at a meeting in New York with Dr. Peter Maurer, chairman of the independent Swiss organization.
He added that our country will continue to rely on the institute's expertise on this extremely sensitive topic for Bulgarian society.
The organization specializes in combating corruption and financial crimes. The cooperation between our country and the Basel Institute for Good Governance is implemented on the basis of a project within the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program.
During the meeting, the two discussed the possibilities of continuing the partnership to improve the legal basis that regulates the activities of the institutions. The goal is to increase transparency and accountability in their work, as well as to adapt national legislation in view of Bulgaria's ambitions for our acceptance into Schengen and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
