Slavcho Velkov: Many politicians still do not make the fine distinction between risk, threat and danger - 1

International security expert Slavcho Velkov summarized in "Day ON AIR" recent events from the Middle East.

Active actions continue in the Gaza Strip - 30-40 people died in the airstrikes in Rafah.

In the West Bank, large Israeli units are entering and taking over major cities that are under Palestinian rule - and there are many casualties. The West Bank is paralyzed by the general strike, one is expected in Ramallah tomorrow. There are about 250-300 Bulgarian citizens there, and it is expected that there will be talks about their evacuation.
In the most important direction - to the north, on the Israeli-Lebanese border, from the Mediterranean Sea in the southwest to the Golan, invasion attempts continue in three directions. Fierce clashes are taking place with casualties on both sides. On the Israeli side, there are 19 dead servicemen and 30 wounded, on the Lebanese side and "Hezbollah" there are over 200 victims, including from the rocket attacks on Beirut.

Velkov cites unconfirmed official information according to which "Hezbollah" claim to have launched a rocket attack on Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea.

What are the risks facing Bulgaria
The international security expert told Bulgaria ON AIR that many politicians still do not make the fine distinction between risk, threat and danger.

"We are talking about risks, it is an unrealized threat, it is a threat that is contained in the potential of the setting, a lurking danger when we talk about risks and threats. The president today reasonably said - there are risks to national security, there are no direct threats to our security", said Slavcho Velkov.
As the main risk facing our country, the guest pointed to the rising wave of refugees. He summarized that 1.5 million Lebanese are fleeing the war, the same number of Syrians, and the way is through Syria, Turkey, Cyprus.

"Sooner or later we will feel this as a risk to our border security. There is a possibility of spending members of radical groups in Europe, mainly in countries that have declared political and financial support for Israel - there may be attacks on diplomatic representations of Israel, synagogues, places of gathering of many people" Slavcho Velkov expressed his expectations.

The expert does not believe that Israel will strike nuclear sites, but there may be strikes on energy infrastructure and military sites.
