More and more branch organizations in agriculture announce their readiness to protest because of the unpaid funds under the called Ukrainian aid. The members of the Chamber of Fruit and Vegetable Producers joined the protest declarations of grain producers, sheep farmers and organic producers. According to the BNR, on Monday the farmers were invited to a meeting at the Ministry of Finance.
BGN 300 million is the amount the state owes farmers for the second tranche of Ukrainian aid. A commitment to this support was made with a signed agreement between the protesting farmers and the government in February. The deadline for the payment of the money was September 30, and after that, farmers began to warn that they were ready to take to the streets because of the non-payment of the funds they needed to compensate for the economic losses they are suffering because of the war in Ukraine.
In the meantime, unofficial information appeared that the Ministry of Finance is ready to pay the funds in two stages - until October 15, when BGN 200 million will be transferred to the accounts of farmers, and the rest of the payment will be made by the end of the month November.
In front of the BNR, the leader of the association of grain producers Iliya Prodanov said that at this stage his organization is not ready to accept such a proposal for a two-time payment.
