High speed or a malfunction in a traffic light are among the main reasons for the serious accident in the capital in which a pedestrian died.
We remind you that the woman died in an accident between two cars on the capital's "Vladimir Vazov" boulevard. The two vehicles collided, causing one to mount the curb, enter the lawn and hit the 40-year-old woman who was walking on the sidewalk. Police tested both drivers for drugs and alcohol. They are negative.
Eyewitness Stefan Ivanov and Krasimir Georgiev from the Association for the Qualification of Motorists in Bulgaria confirm that changes were made to the programming of one of the traffic lights at the intersection in question, reports NOVA.
"The whole problem is that when the first traffic light is green, the second one is red. But some decide that it is green for both", said Georgiev. He added that they have already changed the traffic light scheme at this intersection several times and after the latest change, incidents have decreased significantly. "I do not excuse the participants in the traffic accident - they were driving at high speed and the traffic light signals were ignored.
According to Stefan Ivanov, there is a school near the place of the fatal accident and "at noon it is full of children".
